Singapore and The Philippines
The good thing about flying from Perth to Singapore is that it is still in the same time zone so no jet lag to deal with. We had booked a Warmshowers here, for the first night. Chuen, our host had room to store our boxed bikes and some of our gear while we were in the Philippines. He took us to the local food court for a traditional and very cheap evening meal.
After that we went to the Marina which looks stunning at night with all its unique buildings and bridges illuminated. Every hour there is a laser light show with fountains and music.
For the next three nights we stayed in a small hotel in Little India. We loved the hustle and bustle of this part of Singapore with all its markets, shops, bars, restaurants, colours and smells. The most important task was to get outfits for the wedding. Steve got a made-to-measure silk and linen suit with a cotton shirt produced perfectly in just over 24 hours from one of the tailor's shops in Little India. Karen found a dress in one of the malls in Orchard Road. Unfortunately there was so much shopping to do that there was no time for any more sightseeing before our flights to the Philippines.
Our eldest son Simon was to marry his fiance Emma at a dive resort called Atmosphere, near Dauin on the island of Negros Oriental. The two weeks that we spent there was a lovely holiday and a chance to catch up with our other two sons and their partners as well as family and friends of Simon and Emma.
We spent our time swimming, snorkelling and diving, keeping up our energy with lots of dining and drinking.
This part of the Philippines is very relaxed and friendly with colourful towns and markets and beautiful scenery, both on the coast and inland.
The best place is a tiny island just off the coast called Apo which is a volcanic plug sticking out of the sea surrounded by coral gardens and amazing diving.

After two relaxing weeks it was time to fly back to Singapore and get back to the real job. With the bikes re-assembled and some important gadgets purchased in Sim Lin square we were ready to head to Malaysia.
